What is the plot?
The episode opens with Kamala Khan and her group of survivors fleeing from the Nova Corps, who have arrived to "decontaminate" their ship by destroying it to prevent the zombie infection from spreading beyond Earth. As the Nova Corps attacks, a space battle ensues, with the group desperately trying to evade destruction. Despite their efforts, the ship is ultimately destroyed. Kamala uses her hard light force field to save the group from immediate death, but she struggles to maintain control over it. The force field eventually shatters as they re-enter Earth's atmosphere, causing the group to plummet toward the surface, seemingly doomed to die.
Just before impact, portals open up and catch each member of Kamala's group one by one, saving them from death. Kamala wakes up to find Spider-Man standing over her. She excitedly greets him, revealing her usual nerdy enthusiasm. Suddenly, Scott Lang's floating head appears, surprising her. The group is then greeted by Rintrah and other remaining sorcerers, including Sara and London Master, who have survived the chaos.
Meanwhile, Wanda Maximoff, the Red Queen and main antagonist, is shown amassing her zombie army. She surveys the surge of Infinity energy resulting from a recent event in Wakanda. It is revealed that Wanda has created a massive illusion that now encompasses the entire world, forcing people to live within it. Outside this illusion, the reality is grim and filled with zombies, indicating that the zombie apocalypse continues under her control.
The episode features a significant battle where Kamala and her allies confront the zombie forces sent by Wanda, including a wave led by Abomination. The Hulk easily defeats this initial wave of zombies. However, the larger conflict escalates as the stakes become clearer, with the heroes realizing the full extent of Wanda's power and the hopelessness of their situation.
As the episode progresses, Kamala and her team attempt to find another solution after learning that their initial plan to send a transmitter to space was futile because the Nova Corps quarantined Earth instead of coming to help. This revelation crushes their hopes and forces them to scramble for alternative plans to stop the infection and Wanda's control.
The episode ends on a dark and cliffhanger note, with Kamala trapped inside Wanda's illusion where everything appears normal and her friends and family are alive, while the real world remains a zombie-infested wasteland under Wanda's rule. This final twist leaves the fate of the survivors uncertain and sets up potential future developments.
