Em injures herself by punching a washroom mirror, but to her surprise, the wound heals instantly. She tests this again by injuring herself another time and realizes that she is a reviver with supernatural healing abilities.

Dana hides Em's bloodstained clothes with a police vest and tells the police that she is the one who attacked and seemingly killed the violent reviver, Arlene, to protect Em's secret nature as a reviver.

Before Revival Day, Em lived a sheltered life due to her brittle bone disease (Osteogenesis imperfecta), which made her bitter. After Revival Day, she struggles with drug addiction but finds that drugs no longer affect her, reflecting her new reviver status.

Wayne, the town sheriff and Dana's boss, wants to lock up revivers and is unaware that his daughter Em is one. Dana keeps Em's status a secret from Wayne, and his attitude toward revivers is a source of conflict that will be explored in future episodes.

Em has a panic attack in the ambulance and is immediately sent to the hospital. Dana worries that Em's secret as a reviver could be exposed there and rushes to the hospital to protect her.
