Spring Breakthrough (2023)

Monica arrives at the engagement trip still determined to stop Vivian's wedding, but by the end she accepts Vivian's choice, opens herself to Clark, and leaves with a new chance at love and a new direction for her life.

Monica Rollins spends the trip watching her daughter Vivian move forward with the engagement to Shawn, and that pressure keeps her in conflict almost the entire way. As the story reaches its end, Monica sees that Vivian is serious about Shawn and is making her own adult decision. Monica also realizes that Clark is not the shallow man she first thought he was, and the connection between them has grown into something real. By the final stretch, Monica lets go of her plan to break up the engagement, accepts that Vivian is grown, and stops treating her like a child. At the same time, Monica allows herself to accept Clark and the possibility of a relationship with him.

Vivian ends the story still engaged to Shawn, with Monica recognizing that the engagement is her daughter's choice to make. Shawn remains Vivian's fiancé, and the trip that began as a family celebration stays centered on their engagement. Clark ends the movie as Monica's love interest, with the tension between them resolved and their connection affirmed. Monica meets Clark Randall at the airport, and he is revealed to be Shawn's godfather who helped organize the engagement celebration trip.

The relationship is disrupted when Monica learns Clark is Shawn's godfather and the two spar about what she perceives as his juvenile attitude.

Days before the announcement, Monica is unceremoniously fired from her job after years of tireless dedication.

Monica realizes that Vivian is not her baby anymore and is capable of making big life decisions, partly due to Monica's own positive influence of strong womanhood.
