In the small Norwegian town of Hønefoss, a group of teenagers, led by the charismatic and adventurous Mikkel, decide to explore the nearby woods for a weekend camping trip. The group consists of Mikkel, his girlfriend, the cautious and practical Sara, the thrill-seeker Lars, the quiet and introspective Emma, and the jokester Jonas. As they set off, the atmosphere is filled with excitement and anticipation, with Mikkel encouraging everyone to embrace the adventure ahead.

Upon arriving at their campsite, the group sets up their tents and begins to settle in. They gather around a campfire, sharing stories and laughter, but the mood shifts when they hear strange noises coming from the woods. The group is both fascinated and frightened, and they begin to argue about whether they should leave or stay. Mikkel insists on staying to uncover the truth, while Sara urges them to leave before they get into trouble.

As night falls, the group decides to camp inside the cabin for safety. They hear more strange noises outside, and tensions rise as fear begins to take hold. Emma, feeling overwhelmed, suggests they leave immediately, but Mikkel refuses, wanting to prove his bravery. The group reluctantly agrees to stay one more night, but they set up a watch system to keep an eye on the surroundings.

During the night, Jonas, trying to lighten the mood, goes outside to scare the others but ends up disappearing. The group panics and searches for him, calling out his name, but there is no response. As they search, they find signs of a struggle and blood on the ground, heightening their fear. Mikkel tries to maintain control, but the group begins to fracture under the pressure, with accusations flying and trust eroding.

The next day, they decide to split up to search for Jonas, with Mikkel and Sara going one way while Lars, Emma, and the remaining group member go another. Mikkel and Sara stumble upon a hidden cave, where they find evidence of a recent campfire and personal belongings that suggest Jonas may have been there. They realize they are not alone in the woods and that someone or something is watching them.

Meanwhile, Lars, Emma, and the others encounter a strange figure in the woods, leading to a tense confrontation. They try to communicate, but the figure becomes aggressive, forcing them to flee. In the chaos, Emma gets separated from the group, and Lars is left to fend for himself. He manages to escape but is deeply shaken by the encounter.

Back at the cabin, Mikkel and Sara return to find the place ransacked and the remaining group members missing. They realize they must leave immediately, but as they attempt to escape, they are confronted by the figure from the woods, who reveals himself to be a local hermit with a tragic past. He explains that he has been protecting the forest from intruders, believing that the spirits of those who disappeared are still trapped within.

Mikkel, desperate to save his friends, tries to reason with the hermit, but the situation escalates into a physical confrontation. Mikkel fights bravely, but the hermit is strong and determined. In the struggle, Sara manages to grab a nearby branch and strikes the hermit, allowing them to escape.

As they flee through the woods, they hear the cries of their friends and realize they must return to help them. They find Lars, who is injured but alive, and together they formulate a plan to confront the hermit and rescue the others. They return to the cabin, where they discover that the hermit has taken Emma captive, believing she is the key to appeasing the spirits.

In a climactic showdown, Mikkel, Sara, and Lars confront the hermit. They manage to outsmart him, using the environment to their advantage. Mikkel distracts the hermit while Sara and Lars free Emma. A fierce struggle ensues, and in the chaos, the cabin catches fire, forcing everyone to escape.

As they flee the burning cabin, the group is finally united, but they are left traumatized by the experience. They make their way back to town, vowing never to return to the woods. The final scene shows them standing at the edge of the forest, looking back with a mix of relief and lingering fear, knowing that the horrors they faced will haunt them forever.

The climax is built upon a series of escalating conflicts, including a violent confrontation between rival gangs and the betrayal of a trusted ally. Key events include Mia's kidnapping, which forces Lars to make desperate choices, and Erik's betrayal, which shatters the fragile alliances that have formed.
