Expanded ending: The final stretch begins with Cole carrying the weight of Tibu's death all the way to the man who ordered it. After the truth about Jaran Daniles is uncovered, Cole confronts him in a brutal, close-range encounter. Daniles tries to bargain for his life, but Cole does not accept it. He smashes Daniles against the car and then shoots him, ending the man who helped set everything in motion.
After that, the ending shifts to survival and concealment. Angie stands before the authorities and gives the version that protects Cole: she says he was shot in the final exchange and went overboard. The navy accepts that account. In the official casualty list, Cole is counted as dead alongside the others who were lost in the battle. His body is never recovered, and the film leaves him gone from the record even though he is not shown as truly dead.
The ending then settles the other surviving threads. The people who were being trafficked are rescued. Angie returns to her daughter. The navy closes the file. Cole's fate is tied to the lie that lets him vanish, so his life is ended on paper while his actual whereabouts remain unknown.
